Last updated: October 21, 2026

How Do I Install the 24-Gallon Spare Tire Water Tank (TR-ST-24) in a Ford Transit?

Swap your Ford Transit's factory spare tire for 24 gallons of extra fresh or grey water storage: no drilling, no cutting, no lost interior space. This guide walks through mounting GoCode's 24-Gallon Spare Tire Tank (TR-ST-24) into the factory spare tire pocket using the included hardware.

Before You Start

  • Vehicle: Ford Transit

  • Kit: 24-Gallon Ford Transit Spare Tire Tank - TR-ST-24

  • Mounting location: Factory spare tire pocket, underneath the rear of the van

Tools & Materials

  • Car jack (to lift the tank into the spare tire pocket)

  • Socket wrench or ratchet (to tighten the mounting hardware)

  • What's included with the tank: L brackets, mounting plates, washers, and nuts (1/2" mounting hardware)

Installation Instructions

  1. Unbox and identify your ports. Before you mount anything, locate the inlet, outlet, drain, and vents on the tank.

  2. Drop your spare tire. Remove the cable holding it in the factory pocket and pull the tire out.

  3. Set the tank in place. Use a car jack to lift the tank up into the empty spare tire pocket.

  4. Install the L brackets. Using the included hardware, set the L brackets in place.

  5. Add the mounting plates. Slide the mounting plates in underneath the brackets.

  6. Secure the hardware. Finish with the included washers and nuts to lock the tank down.
