ARTICLE: MOAB Heavy Duty Folding Bracket Explained: Rating, Uses, and Tabletop Size
Last updated: October 30, 2026
What Is the GoCode MOAB Folding Bracket and How Big a Tabletop Can It Hold?
The MOAB (Mother of All Brackets) is a heavy duty folding bracket rated for 95 lbs. It’s most commonly used for a table extension, but it also works for a jump seat or a fold-up shelf. For a single bracket, Luke recommends a tabletop up to about 18" deep and 16 to 18" wide. You can add more brackets to go wider.
What the MOAB Is Used For?
The MOAB can be used to make a jump seat, a fold-up shelf, or a table extension. The table extension is the most common use. For example, if you want your desk to come out farther, you mount the bracket underneath it.
Weight Rating
The MOAB is rated for 95 lbs. Luke describes it as a very robust bracket meant to take a lot of weight if it needs to.
How Large a Tabletop Can One Bracket Support?
For a single bracket, Luke recommends the following:
Depth: Up to 18". The bracket itself is about 12", and adding another 50% gets you to 18". That’s a good place to stop because it still lets you reach in, use the handle, and disengage the bracket.
Width: 16 to 18" wide for a single bracket.
If you want a wider table, you can gang multiple brackets together down the line and make it as wide as you want.
Why the MOAB Sits Slightly Past 90 Degrees
When you install it, you may notice the bracket sits just past 90 degrees, at about 90.2 to 90.3. Once it’s under a load, it settles right to 90. This is normal. [TK: confirm “normal” with Luke, he explains it as a common install question]
Quiet Operation
Even if you only use it for a basic table, the MOAB gives you a solid feel and quiet operation. The magnets and gas strut keep it quiet both open and closed. That means no rattling brackets while driving.
