How to Install the Ford Transit EMPHASER Speaker Upgrade | Complete Install Guide
Last updated: September 30, 2026
Overview
The EMPHASER kit swaps your Transit's stock door speakers and A-pillar tweeters for a plug-and-play upgrade that wires straight into the factory harness, no cutting or crimping required. Installation Instructions
A-Pillar Tweeters
Remove the handle covers. Pull the small plastic covers off the A-pillar handle to expose the mounting screws.
Take out the screws and handle trim. Remove the screws, then pull the A-pillar plastic trim straight out. It's held on with friction clips.
Swap the tweeters. Use a pin tool to release the plastic clips holding the factory tweeter, then pop the EMPHASER tweeter into the same housing.
Secure the high-pass filter. Peel the backing off the filter's self-adhesive tape, stick it to the vent, and plug it into the factory harness.
Reinstall the trim. Align the vent so the defroster and side-view mirror aren't obstructed, seat the A-pillar behind the bulb seal with a panel tool, and reinstall the handle.
Door Panel Removal
Locate the perimeter screws. Check behind the handle, inside the holders, and behind the side reflector.
Pop the plastic covers. Use a panel popper tool to expose the hidden screws.
Remove the hardware. Use a 7mm socket for most of the perimeter screws, a T20 star bit for the lower screws, and a T25 star bit for the screws behind the handle.
Detach the panel. Pull firmly to pop the clips, then lift it up and shimmy it off the bulb seal.
Disconnect the wiring. Press the detents on the harnesses behind the handle to disconnect the door release, locks, and window switches.
Door Speaker Swap
Remove the old speaker. Disconnect the factory plug, then use a 7mm socket to remove the three mounting screws.
Add sound dampening, if you want it. This is the point to stuff dampening material into the door cavity. Keep it clear of the window track.
Mount the EMPHASER speaker. Position it in the factory holes with the clip facing up, using the original hardware. Starting with the bottom screw helps align the top two holes.
Plug it in. Connect the speaker with the factory plug.
Reassembling the Door
Reconnect the electronics. Plug the window, lock, and door handle harnesses back into the door panel.
Seat the panel. Align it over the top bulb seal and snap all the clips back into place.
Replace hardware and covers. Reinstall the perimeter screws and snap the plastic plugs, handle inserts, and side reflectors back into place.
