INSTALL: KUS Tank Sensor

Last updated: October 29, 2026

How Do I Install a KUS Sensor in a GoCode Water Tank?

Install the KUS sensor by drilling out the 1 1/2" membrane fitting on top of the tank, cleaning out the shavings, wrapping the sensor threads with two turns of quality tape, and threading it in slowly without overtightening. It’s a float flip style sensor, so a float moves up and down inside the tank.

NOTE: This is the sensor only. To read level, you will need to source a compatible gauge or monitor via your power system.

Before You Start

  • Sensor: KUS sensor

  • Fitting: The tank has a 1 1/2" membrane fitting that needs to be drilled out. The top one is set to the deepest point.

  • Estimated installation time: ~10 min

Tools & Materials

  • Razor knife

  • Drill with a 1/8" bit and a 1 1/2" bit

  • Shop vac

  • Quality thread tape

  • KUS sensor

Installation Instructions

  1. Cut the tip of the membrane
Use a razor knife to cut the small tip out of the fitting.

  2. Drill a pilot hole
Drill a pilot hole with a 1/8" bit.

  3. Open it up
Drill the hole out to 1 1/2". Luke says 1 5/8" works too, and some people go to 1 3/4", but 1 1/2" does the job.

  4. Clean out the tank
    Shop vac out the shavings.

  5. Tape the threads
Wrap the sensor threads with two turns of quality tape, in the direction the sensor threads in. Remove the rubber band holding the float.

  6. Thread it in slowly
Go slow on the first threads and keep it straight. Don’t overtighten. Point the electrical connection toward where your wiring will be.
