INSTALL: Stainless Steel In-Floor Shower Pan

Last updated: October 29, 2026

How Do I Install the GoCode Stainless Steel In-Floor Shower Pan in a Van?

Install a GoCode in-floor shower pan by cutting a 22" x 28" opening in your floor, drilling a 2 3/4" drain hole, and setting the pan in silicone adhesive. Before you cut, confirm you have at least 1 1/4" from the top of your finished floor surface to the top of the factory floor, and that nothing under the van blocks the drain. Let the pan dry overnight, then plumb to the drain.

Before You Start

  • Vehicle: Any van

  • Kit: GoCode Stainless Steel In-Floor Shower Pan

  • Drain profiles: Left-hand, right-hand, and center drain. This guide shows the left-hand drain.

  • Depth check: Measure your floor, subfloor, and insulation. You need at least 1 3/8" from the top of the finished surface to the top of the factory floor.

  • Under the floor: Make sure the drain location is clear of struts, fuel lines, brake lines, or anything else that would block the install.

  • Above the floor: Make sure cabinets or other build elements won’t get in the way of hanging your curtain.

  • Estimated installation time: 1 hr

Tools & Materials

  • Drill with a 2 3/4" hole bit

  • Tool for cutting the floor opening

  • Tape measure and marker

  • Silicone adhesive

  • Primer for the cut metal

  • Any 1 1/2" threaded fitting for plumbing to the drain

  • Drain with gasket nut (1 1/2" NPT) included with the pan

Installation Instructions

  1. Check your floor depth
Measure the thickness of your floor, subfloor, and insulation. You want at least 1 3/8" from the top of the surface to the top of the factory floor so the pan sits flush. In the video, the build measures 1 1/2".

  2. Check under and above the floor
Look under the van where the drain will sit and confirm it’s clear of struts, fuel lines, and brake lines. Then look up top and make sure cabinets won’t block your shower curtain.

  3. Mark and cut the opening
Measure and mark a 22" x 28" rectangle, then cut inside the line. Cutting inside the line leaves room to adjust the fit. Remove the cutout piece.

  4. Dry-fit the pan
Set the pan in the opening to check the fit before anything gets glued.

  5. Mark the drain hole
With the pan dry-set, measure and mark the center of your drain location. Pull the pan back out.

  6. Drill the drain hole
Drill a 2 3/4" hole at your mark.

  7. Prep the drain
The drain drops in from the top, and the gasket nut threads on from the bottom. The drain is 1 1/2" NPT, so any 1 1/2" threaded fitting will connect to it.

  8. Silicone, prime, and set the pan
Pull the pan out and run a small bead of silicone adhesive all the way around the edge. Treat the metal with primer, install the drain, and set the pan.

  9. Let it cure and plumb
Let the pan dry overnight. A little weight in the pan helps while it sets. Then plumb to your drain. You’re installed.
